Janelle Anderson, Chairperson and Chief Operations Officer
McGee is a women-owned company, certified by the Greater Women's Business Council (GWBC®), under the name of Anderson Material Handling, Inc. GWBC® is a certifying partner organization of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Janelle Anderson is the Chief Executive and majority owner of McGee. Before becoming active in the day-to-day operations of McGee, Janelle enjoyed over eighteen years in high tech companies, serving in a variety of sales, marketing and management capacities.
Janelle began her career in 1985 with Eastman Kodak Company's, Business Imaging Systems Division ("Kodak"). In 1990, after five successful years in sales, Kodak promoted and relocated Janelle to their Rochester, NY headquarters. Here, she enjoyed a number of developmental assignments in Product Marketing, Channel Development, Product Management and Sales Management. In 1996, Kodak relocated her a second time to Atlanta, GA where Janelle assumed management responsibility for the Southeast region.
In 1997, Janelle transitioned to the management team of Mobius Management Systems, Inc. (now ASG), a content management software solution provider, to lead the Southeast Region. In two short years, Janelle was promoted to Area Director, managing the central and southeast states. Under her leadership, the Central Area generated over 40% of the company's worldwide revenues. In 1999, Janelle invested in the acquisition of McGee Equipment Company, along with her husband Kirk. She voluntarily left Mobius in 2003 to invest full-time in the future of McGee. Her broad base of business experience has helped the company to grow profitably ever since.
Kirk Anderson, President
Kirk Anderson has spent his entire career in the material handling industry. He got his start in 1986 as a sales executive for Storage Equipment Company, Inc., a material handling distributor in Dallas, TX. Upon relocating to Rochester, NY in 1990, Kirk joined the sales team at ALOI Materials Handing, Inc.("ALOI") , another reputable distributor of material handling products. Here, Kirk was introduced to several new manufacturers and educated in numerous product lines. For six years, Kirk was a vital contributor to new business development and enjoyed a highly successful sales career. With the company owners serving as his mentors, Kirk was on a path to entertain an eventual ownership stake in ALOI.
Taking a leap of faith to relocate to Atlanta with Janelle in 1996, Kirk sought out opportunities to establish himself as a material handling distributor, and assume ownership responsibilities. Taking some time to get to know the Atlanta market, Kirk elected to join Air Specialists, Inc. of Marietta, GA, to assist them in launching a material handling division. Three years later, the opportunity to purchase McGee Equipment Company presented itself. Hamilton "Hamp" McGee was preparing to retire and was seeking a buyer with experience to keep McGee moving forward.
Together, Kirk and Janelle Anderson purchased the company in 1999. Kirk maintains vendor relationships with all manufacturers we proudly represent. Having always enjoyed face-to-face customer interaction, Kirk remains vital to McGee's sales operations. Since 1999, Kirk has led the company's revenue growth to over five times its' original size.
